Course Overview - Paediatric First Aid Training

The AoFAQ Level 3 award in Paediatric First Aid is an accredited qualification and provides first aid training specific to infants aged under 1, and children aged from 1 year old to the onset of puberty. It fulfils the requirements of the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as issued by the department for Education and Skills Foundation Stage relating to Early Years childcare. 

This course is ideal for anyone who works with or comes into contact with infants and children in their working or voluntary roles. This course is also ideal for parents and families with young children.  

Course Content

  • Planning for, and dealing with, first aid emergencies involving babies and children
  •  Resuscitation of babies and children
  • Choking
  • Minor cuts, bites, stings, bleeding and shock
  • Anaphylactic shock
  • Broken bones and sprains
  • Head, neck and back injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Poisoning
  • Burns
  • Effects of extreme heat and cold including febrile convulsions
  • Contamination and injury to the eyes and foreign objects in the ears and nose
  • Other medical conditions including epilepsy, asthma, diabetes and meningitis
